1999年，RobecoSAM 和道瓊指數(The Dow Jones Industrial Average ,DJIA / Dow Jones, or simply the Dow)共同創建了全球第1個可持續性指數，稱為道瓊可持續性指數(Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes ,DJSI)。

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) launched in 1999, are a family of indices evaluating the sustainability performance of thousands of companies trading publicly, operated under a strategic partnership between S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM (Sustainable Asset Management).
RobecoSAM 是成立於1929年的荷蘭投資管理公司 Robeco 的子公司。這意味著 Robeco 既對 RobecoSAM 進行職能監督，又在董事會中擁有多數代表。

2012年，DJSI 由標普全球多數持股的標普道瓊指數維護，合併成為標普道瓊指數(S&P Dow Jones Indices).
In 2012, S&P Indices and Dow Jones Indexes merged to form S&P Dow Jones Indices.

RobecoSAM 現在與標準普爾道瓊斯指數合作編製 DJSI。
RobecoSAM now works with S&P Dow Jones Indices to produce the DJSI.

RobecoSAM 每年評估60個行業組中的2,000家全球最大的公司，方法是透過 ESG 問卷發送與大數據彙整，ESG 問卷的重點包括環境、社會與治理。
